I have to say, I actually love February and the Valentine’s time of year. Why? The colors, hearts, and flavors of course! What other holiday can be touted with red hearts, chocolate everything, and the sweetest pinkest cocktails? This Kir Royale definitely checks all the Valentine’s boxes.
Honestly, I’m not big in celebrating Valentine’s specifically, but I love pretty much any opportunity to have a themed cocktail, wear a red sweater, and gorge myself on high-quality chocolates.
My friend Kristin gave me this cocktail once and it was love at first sight. But honestly, I think my mom gave me the recipe many years before that. This Kir Royale was featured last year in the “12 Days of Christmas Cocktails.” (A joint venture with Russ from KiltandCork.) And while the video is actually pretty cute, I TOTALLY misspoke when I said that Chambord was Blackberry Liquer! It ISN’T!!! It’s RASPBERRY. I have no idea where I heard “blackberry,” but I’m putting my foot in the proverbial pre-taped mouth to say I was wrong. Lol.
All that aside, there is just something so sweet, lovely, and… well, Valentine-y about this beautiful little liqueur. In fact I think BOTH of February’s cocktails contain it. So it really does seem to be my February flavor this year! Enjoy!
- Champagne Flute
- ½ Shot Chambord Raspberry Liqueur
- Champagne or Sparkling Wine to Fill
- Pour the Half Shot of Chambord in the bottom of the Champagne Flute.
- Gently fill the remainder of the Flute with Champagne or Sparkling Wine.
- ***If you pour the Champagne on the side of the glass gently and slowly, the cocktail will be stacked with a beautiful dark red on the bottom of the Flute and a gradual change to Champagne at the top. Though, you'll likely want to swirl before drinking to meld the flavors.
