Being Gluten Free can be hard. There’s a huge advantage to doing it now simply because it’s so trendy. There are so many options, the process is much easier than it used to be. But it still isn’t easy. Some specific bread-y things are difficult. Honestly, even with the great delivery options pizza-wise, I feel like Gluten Free pizza can be one of the “tough” things. Yes, Gluten Free is relatively easy to get in a pizza place–or even delivered to your door–but it’s not super easy to make.
When you don’t eat regular glutinous breads, until recently there haven’t been any easy-“ish” options for pizza such as “Bobole” or similar half-way homemade pizzas. Which is a shame because there’s no better way to get exactly the toppings or flavors you want. There are frozen pizzas, but even they aren’t awesome-tasting. Nowadays though, two awesome options for homemade gluten free pizzas have appeared: Udi’s and Cup4Cup.
When I first decided to do this post, I figured I’d be telling you all which one to use as a basic “this one’s better” review. However, when I made these two pizzas, I realized there isn’t one that is better over the other, they’re just different.
Bottom line: If you like chewy, thinner crust pizzas, you should go for the Udi’s. Not only that, but as a frozen, premade pizza crust, this is pretty darn easy. If, however, you like the fluffier, thicker crust pizza, the Cup4Cup is the way to go. There is more workability with the mix. And I have to say, there’s not much better than eating the leftover crust drenched in honey.
Below is a recipe for a wonderful robust pizza sauce. If you have a food processor, the minimal work it takes to make your own sauce is well worth the health you’re maintaining and the chemicals you’re avoiding.
Anyway, I thought I was going to be giving you a pretty explicit Yes/No review of both pizza crusts. Turns out, they’re both good for different reasons, so pick your poison and enjoy!
