One of the things I like to do on The Hungry Dater is give you guys reviews of the things I think you all will like. Many times their reviews of bars and restaurants, but other times they’ll be reviews of books, date night places, or services I think are helpful, important or fun.
The flavors are great. Admittedly, the very first week of Greenchef meals I got, I wasn’t impressed. It turned out to be a week where there were two chicken meals and two out of the three meals were Greek-ish in flavor. It was just a lot. The flavors were strong, the spices were dense, and honestly…. I don’t like chicken. Because of all these factors, I decided to try it one more week. The next week was perfect!
As you know, I’m not great about vegetables, and I’m making a serious effort to get more of them in my diet. Greenchef, it turns out, is a great way to do so because the meals are generally veggie-based.
As a GF eater, one of the things I don’t love about Greenchef is I can’t choose the meals on a weekly basis–I know you can with other services like this one. Along that same vein, the GF option at Greenchef is a bit pricey. The meals are around $14.00 each, so the weekly total is $90 for a week’s worth of meals. However, I know it is unusual to spend less than that on three organic dinners for two people, so it’s a good bill to pay. I did receive one box over the several months of my orders which had some brown arugula in it. However, they handled the situation splendidly and sent me a free meal the next week.
Probably the best part of this service is the opportunities! As a person who likes to try different and new things–and to learn how to cook them–it can sometimes be frustrating to buy new things in bulk only to find I only want that one meal, or even worse, to find I don’t like it and I have a whole bunch left! With Greenchef, I don’t have to worry about that because I get to try one meal. If I like it then, I can get more and learn to cook it regularly.
On a whole, Greenchef is a great service with some awesome goals and a great mission. It helps with meal planning and preparation on busy work nights. There’s always enough to have a friend over or to take a lunch, and the meals are healthy and nutritious. I’ll keep researching the different meal delivery services and report back as it goes.
In the meantime, happy cooking, Hungry Daters!
