This year, though it’s sometimes been difficult to find reasons to express gratitude, it’s actually the most necessary time to do it. Gratitude is a seminal part of a successful life. And this year, the more we express gratitude the more good things the Universe will provide to us.
Gratitude – A Way to Improve Your Life
Several years ago, I started reading a lot about living a better life and being as successful as possible. I can’t tell you how much of that has to do with actively expressing your gratitude on a daily basis. And I have to say, this has changed my life.
Throughout the year, though, I initially had a hard time keeping a steady habit of writing down my gratitude daily. This was because I didn’t have a place to write it.
The Best Planner Yet
Last year I bought my first Erin Condren LifePlanner. I was worried I wouldn’t love it because I tend to be so married to my electronic calendars these days. But for years I loved having a planner and writing things down and crossing them out. I’d heard such amazing things about this one, I decided to try it. I’m so glad I did.
For several months I used the planner as an editorial calendar for The Hungry Dater (read about that soon). But because my daily schedule was always kept on my phone (it has to be for work purposes), I did very little with the daily lines in the planner and this always made me feel like I was wasting one of the planners main features.
After weeks of using PostIt Notes (Not kidding) for my daily gratitude “journal,” I finally realized I already had the PERFECT gratitude journal built in to my favorite planner!
A History of Planner Love
Now, I loved planners when I was in school. In college I had a specific type of planner I used every year. It had pictures of my favorite movies, and I seriously used each one until they fell apart. I loved nothing more than writing lists and lists of things to do on every day of the year and then scratching them out until they were nothing but big black blocks after I finished them. But for years now, I’ve been using my phone as an appointment keeper, and haven’t bought a new planner. Then I discovered the Erin Condren LifePlanner.
I first saw the LifePlanner on Running with Spoons. My first thought was “I really don’t need to buy a new planner. I have my phone.” But I started looking at them more and more, and I realized how much I missed my hard copy planner. I decided that I’d try it and see if I liked it.
I’m hooked.
A Planner that Makes You Want to Plan
The Erin Condren LifePlanner has so many great features. It has the daily stuff like my old college planners, but it also has a monthly overview, places for goals, a year overview, and spots for notes, coloring, addresses, and passwords.
But, while this might all seem pretty normal and straight forward, the coolest and most unique part of the Erin Condren LifePlanner is that it’s more like a scrapbook than just a planner. The Erin Condren LifePlanner comes multi-colored, full of inspirational quotes, colorful stickers, and personalized covers. Add all this together, and you have a planner that MAKES you want to plan things. (Or at least it does for me. Lol.) {Get yours https://www.erincondren.com/}
Daily Gratitude
Gratitude is one of those things that you think you’re participating in until you make a concerted effort to do so. But the more you concentrate on being grateful, the more grateful you become on a daily basis. Writing down everything you’re grateful for either at the beginning or the end of the day reminds you how lucky you are. And what I’ve noticed about that is the luckier you feel, the luckier you become.
In the world of a single, professional, independent girl; you can always use a little more luck. Who knows which day of gratitude will be the one the universe awards you with your soul mate. But I’m going to be prepared for it by starting every day like that’s the day. And every day, I know that my gratitude–even if I don’t find my soul mate that day–is making my life a better place for me to live. I’m creating my own existence, and that existence looks amazing.
And hey, if absolutely nothing else, with the Erin Condren LifePlanner, at least you’ll always know that expressing your gratitude will be fun, colorful, patterned, and whimsical, just in case you need some extra inspiration! Join me on my gratitude journey at
