It’s no secret around here that Fall is my absolute favorite season. I love the flavors, I love the colors, I love the smells… Let’s just say this time of year pleases all my senses. And one of the biggest pleasures of my senses in Autumn is Pumpkin-Flavored-Everything. So while you’ll definitely get some Hungry Dater Pumpkin Recipes this year, I thought there would also be no better way to celebrate October than to show you a bunch of other stellar recipes from MY favorite bloggers around the web! Enjoy!
#10 – Pumpkin Fondue – Not Without Salt
Ashley Rodriguez from Not Without Salt was probably the first food blogger I fell in love with. Her recipes are always wonderful and I adore the fact that, just like me, she explores the power of food as a component of relationships. As a matter of fact, she just had her second book come out this week, and she’s a complete pleasure to read and cook with. I don’t usually have any use for savory pumpkin recipes (I have a major sweet tooth), but I will be trying this fondue as soon as humanly possible! (Perhaps this weekend so I can report back immediately.)
#9 – Pumpkin Pecan Scones with Brown Butter Glaze – Joy the Baker
Joy the Baker is yet another of my favorite blogs which I’ve followed for a very long time. One of the things I’ve always loved about her is that most of her stuff is baked. Because I love baking, this has always appealed to me. But I have to say, I’ve always wondered how Joy can do it and still stays healthy! I’m jealous. Anyway, it’s always hard for me to find scone recipes which use All-Purpose Flour so I can use my Cup4Cup. These do!!!
#8 – Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream – The Hungry Dater
I’d be remiss if I didn’t add at least a few of my own recipes. I love pumpkin spice so much that I could seriously eat it every day of my life. But there’s some (ahem) judgment that comes when you’re consuming something in August that’s traditionally a Thanksgiving flavor. The solution? Ice cream! The perfect combo of Pumpkin-y goodness and Summer-ish fun.
#7 – Marbled Chocolate Pumpkin Muffins – Ambitious Kitchen
Ambitious Kitchen is also joining the pumpkin bandwagon this week (who wouldn’t) with a week of pumpkin! Yesterday, these lovely muffins were in my inbox and I can’t wait to try! I also love that I can use the excuse that they’re healthy while still getting in my daily dose of chocolate!
#6 – Favorite Pumpkin Granola – Pinch of Yum
I love granola, but I’ve always heard how bad for you it is, so it’s not something I eat a whole lot. However, I’ve always felt everything is healthier when you make it yourself. I have a feeling granola is a great example of this rule. So, in the spirit of this post and of maintaining my own health while still eating exactly what I want to eat, I’m making this granola TODAY.
#5 – Caramel Pecan Pumpkin Cheesecake – Creme de la Crumb
I make a mean pumpkin cheesecake, but even mine doesn’t have this awesome-looking crunchy munchy stuff on the top like this! Mine will be posted here soon and then all of us can take the opportunity to compare the two recipes. I look forward to finding out everyone’s preferences and why. In the meantime, though, enjoy this mixture of all kinds of fall flavors in one easy-bake cake!
#4 – Super Moist Pumpkin Bread – Pinch of Yum
As a kid, one of my best friends’ moms made pumpkin bread. I had never had it, and frankly, the thought of it totally freaked me out. I probably didn’t accept a slice of the stuff for 2 years after she started offering it to me. After I started, I wondered why it had taken me so long. Pumpkin bread is nothing like pumpkin pie (which I think was the source of my distress–why eat pumpkin pie without the crust???). It’s like banana bread on crack. It’s essentially cake. But it’s called bread so you can justifiably toast it, douse it in butter, and eat it for breakfast. This recipe looks relatively healthy, but boasts an extra moist bread. Can’t beat that!
#3 – Five Ingredient Pumpkin Alfredo – Pinch of Yum
I’m sure you’re seeing a pattern here. I read Pinch of Yum pretty incessantly, and I LOVE their recipes. So, sorry not sorry? for posting several of theirs in this list. I just couldn’t help it! Lol.
So, as I said above, I’ve never been super psyched about savory pumpkin recipes (I’ve often thought that’s what butternut squash is for), but I just could not ignore this one, and it will be in my weekend recipe list of things I have to try.
#2 – Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting – The Hungry Dater
In all my pie-eating years as a child, I suppose it’s a good thing I didn’t know there were other things you could do with pumpkin. These. Are. Epic. The pumpkin isn’t too overwhelming and the tang of the cream cheese is perfectly balanced with the spice of the cinnamon. These are actually something I get away with making almost all year without getting weird looks from my friends and family–they’re just too good.
#1 – Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Syrup – The Hungry Dater
I know it isn’t right for me to give myself spots #2 and #1 on this list, but I just couldn’t help it. When you’re a food writer it’s a huge deal when a dish gets used more than once in your house because you’re constantly exploring new things. Both these last two not only get used multiple times, but they both get front row spots in my repertoire every. single. year. So I promise they’re worth it.
This Pumpkin Spice Latte Syrup was developed from one I first saw on TheSugarCrafter.com. It has developed and changed for me over the years, but it’s still ALWAYS something that gets made in my house almost every September, October, AND November. It’s that good!
